TomTom U.S. & Canada App Reviews

Looks like Windows 95

TomTom has had years to update this app but they continue to ignore it, only doing minor updates. The UI is a joke. Entering an address is a joke. It takes way too many taps to do anything. Graphics look like from Atari-era. Traffic (which I used to buy) has been getting less and less accurate, often missing huge jams. I think I know why... not enough people still use this stupid app so it cant crowdsource traffic info. It used to be good, like 7 years ago. Now its the dinosaur of GPSs. Dont pay for this!

Ugly

These maps look horrid. Especially the night mode maps. Also, can we get some iPhone 6 & 6 Plus love?

recent destination fail to open

good app but also bug on above

In regards to the reviewer "karldenton"

If you want to see your longitude and latitude, just press the button "help me" from the main menu. It will show your latitude and longitude there.

Wishful thinking!

Love the app, love the accuracy. Wish they had a screen that showed the position of satellites and your current longitude and latitude.

Wrong exit numbers in Jacksonville fl

version 1.20 still did not update the inerface. the maps dispay are still outdate. All other GPS iOS apps have iCloud capability. It is a shame that TomTom iOS app does not have that capabilty. Also, the app does is not optimized for the iPhone 6 Plus

Loved this app. Well worth the money, but...

I stopped using the TomTom app and using Garmin for one reason and one only, BLUETOOTH INTERGRTAION.... The Garmin bluetooth in seemlessly amazing with my car. I can listen to radio/CD/Sat etc. and navigation cuts in only when needed.. I will say one thing, Navagation apps have come a long way and I perfer TomTom as my navi app..

Updates Fail To Restore Traffic

Everything was working good until I upgraded from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 6. TomTom seems unable to restore my account onto the new phone hence I have no traffic information. TomTom is aware of the issue but has no clue why. They are still researching. After installing the latest update version 1.20 the problem still isnt fixed. So while the general mapping feature is great if youre traveling and require traffic the app is worthless.

Best GPS app on iPhone for trips

This is without question still the best GPS app out there for the iPhone. TomTom has the best points of interest searching feature and the driving modes work very well for media playback. If it had Siri integration I would never use anything else for navigation. But this is always my "go to" for trips.

Broke Apple Maps-> app link

Before this update, if you used Apple maps,to look up a location and then used the "route using app" feature to launch Tomtom from Apple Maps, Tomtom would launch and navigate to the location automatically . This update broke this functionally that I use a lot. Please fix!!!

Still the best for offline maps

I constantly travel to areas of the USA and Canada where cell service is either non-existent, or my roaming is severely restricted data-wise (t-mobile still has yet to figure out how to allow people to go over 50 megabytes while roaming...</rant>) That being said, since ALL maps are stored locally on the phone, I can travel with no fear about getting to my destination on the road after I land from the air. This is an essential business tool for me, and has saved my a-double-s many times. Although its not entirely accurate in many rural areas, it at least gets me close enough to know that I need to start looking around. Truthfully, Im very happy with this purchase...Well worth it if you travel often, and dont always have reliable data to use Apple maps, or Google.

Best nav app

Now that tomtom has fixed the bug and my traffic account can move between my devices again, tomtom is back on top.

Great app. Needs some improvements

With new music app, on IOS, your App player need to capture audiobooks stream, which now on Ibook. We must have an ability to stop or pause play, while driving, within your App

The UI is so ugly and the map data is so yesterday

Just as what I said in title, the application is very bad and UI is very unfriendly. Many other GPS app is much better than this. And the data is so outdated. Some places did not exist any more. The worst thing is that it cannot be refunded. Very bad purchase

TomTom lies

I like this product and recommend it to friends, but today I write to give 2 stars. Normally I would give it 4-5 stars. The product description says they have lowered the price. They lie. They just bumped the price up. Also they havent updated the product in a while. Wisconsin raised the speed limit from 65 to 70 at the beginning of the year. They still show it as 65. That sure makes a big difference when calculating routes.

iPhone 6 Plus support???

Needs 6 plus support asap. This was my go to app when I was running a 5S and below but we need TomTom to step it up.

The y Change the distance units

I update my iphone 6+ and everything in TOMTOM gone crazy.. Theres no Samantha voice, The distance units was kilometers and meters, miles and feet now its YARD and FEET. Im not a NFL player i dont like YARD UNIT

TomTom Advanced Voices Gone w/IOS 9

Updated to iOS 9 on Sunday and now the advanced voices are gone. Its not even an option. TomTom I would have thought you would have tested this to see if there was an incompatibility and fixed it before the roll out of iOS 9. Not happy.

Still as bad as it was before.

No voices to read street names. Turn left is hilarious in a roundabout. I find Apple maps is more accurate. App hasnt been updated to work in the iPhone 6 yet so the text and keyboard are huge as it only seems to support the screen of the iPhone 5s. Save your money and a lot of frustration and just use Apple maps. Its just as irritating but free.

Advanced Voice Back with simple fix - good support

I have been using the TomTom GPS App for over two years. I like the IQ routes. I also like the fact that the maps are on the device. Yes, it does take up more memory but there have been numerous times when I have been in area with no mobile service so the TomTom app does fine when that happens because I have the maps on my phone. With IOS 9 the app no longer had the Advanced Voice that announced street names. Only the basic voices and the Celebrity Voices were available. I contacted TomTom via their website about this. They got back to me quickly. After a few exchanges with them they suggested that I change my phone region settings to the United Kingdom. Settings > General > Language & Region. (This changes the date format and time format) When I did this the Advanced Voice option was back! They are fixing this glitch and will include that in their next update. So for now, just do what I did and the Advanced Voice option will be back.
